Change can start with just two words. Refugees welcome. Fair trade. Wheelchair workouts. Powerful words, especially when spoken by media outlets and global brands.
My calling as a nonfiction storyteller is to find the words that ring true for our time, and invite people into those stories. That’s when the story jumps off the screen or page, and ideas take flight. Teenagers design portable refugee housing. Baristas introduce urbanites to rainforest coffee growers. Wheelchair users like my mom stay strong by tracking their exercise.
Transformative stories like these take creative teamwork. I’m proud of the forward-thinking teams I’ve worked with across domains - creating video for Apple and Hulu, audio for NPR and IDEO, interactive engagement for Airbnb and Google, games for Ubisoft and Forte. My methods are simple: ask purposeful questions, surface compelling true stories, and center brands around shared human needs. I do this in writing, but my goal isn’t to collect more bylines – it’s to prompt people to find their own voices.
Because those next words you speak? They could change everything. Let’s talk about it.
